About us

Camino piedra

Our origin

Altos Norte was born from a family dream to give life and purpose back to Rancho San José del Tepozán , in the Altos de Jalisco (Highlands of Jalisco). A property that our grandfather acquired in 1922 .

Since 1994 , we decided to transform the estate into an agroecological conservation area, using agro-silvo-pastoral practices such as reforestation, soil improvement, and rotational grazing of livestock. Our aim is to restore local biodiversity, protect the natural balance of the environment, and thereby regenerate the ecosystem.

The beginning of the vineyard

In 2016 , as the agricultural component of the project, we planted the first part of the vineyard.

What began as an experimental project transformed into a way of life: understanding the rhythm of nature, listening to the earth and letting each harvest speak for itself .

Each year teaches us something new: different fermentations, different expressions of the same place. Over time, the vineyard and the winery have grown organically, without haste, without repeated formulas, learning to observe and accompany rather than intervene.

A family project

Today, Altos Norte is a family winery , where each member contributes their vision: from daily work in the field and the winery, to communication, design and connection with those who share our philosophy.

Our commitment is simple: to make authentic, vibrant, and honest wines that reflect the soul of Los Altos de Jalisco and the respect and love we have for the land of our ancestors.

Philosophy

We believe that wine should express the truth of the terroir, the varietal, and human effort.

We work with minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations with our wild yeasts, and absolute respect for the product.
